This Spring Weave Movement Theatre is holding three public workshops with three exciting workshop leaders
Don’t miss the opportunity to experience working with this Award-winning Disability led physical theatre company.
These are fun workshops where you can challenge yourself through movement, dance and theatre, working solo, in pairs and in groups. All three leaders are international artists in their field and all are experienced in working with diverse bodies and minds.

We welcome disabled participants and allies. You should have some background in dance, movement or theatre, whether performing or in classes or workshops.

Workshop 1
Leader Victoria Chiu

In this workshop you will be playing with movement by yourself and in groups and with stories from your life and places you love.

VICTORIA CHIU is an award-winning international dancer and choreographer. Victoria works with dance and movement connected to histories of self, peoples and place. She works with dance, screen and technology. She led movement workshops for two years in the Footscray Community Arts, Art LIfe program. She has a PhD in dance

When: Saturday, September 5th, 1-4pm
Where: Room 201, Balam Balam Place, 15 Phoenix St, Brunswick.

Workshop 2
Leader-Sally Smith

In this dance and movement workshop, we will wake up Spring energy in a series of movement activities designed to spark creativity, open our senses and connect with others.

Sally is an experienced teacher, performer and choreographer with a history in dance as an international performer. Sally has long experience teaching in inclusive adult education contexts.

When: Saturday, September 19th, 1pm-4pm.
Where: Room 201, Balam Balam Place, 15 Phoenix St, Brunswick.

Workshop 3
Leader Yumi Umiumare

In this workshop you will use your imagination and sense of fun, making discoveries in movement with Yumi’s dynamic leadership.

Yumi is a highly respected, award-winning Butoh*dancer and creator of Butoh Cabaret works. Her creations are visually striking with a sense of humor. Yumi’s works have been seen in festivals in dance, theatre and film worldwide She has worked with diverse companies, such as Weave Movement Theatre and Back to Back and with many communities

*Butoh is a modern Japanese dance style, using natural human movement and images to create movement.

When: Saturday, September 26th, 2pm-5pm.
Where: Room 201, Balam Balam Place, 15 Phoenix St, Brunswick.

Balam Balam Place is fully wheelchair accessible

Cost:$25 for each workshop
You may be able to pay from NDIS funds if you are self- managed or plan-managed and this type of activity is in your plan
