WEAVE WINS A 2026 GREEN ROOM AWARD

At the 2026 Green Room Awards this year, Weave and its collaborators in the production “Flesh Mirror”, staged at Arts House in October, 2025, won a Green Room Award for Outstanding Ensemble in Contemporary and Experimental Performance.

The success of the show belongs to the whole team who made it possible.

JANICE FLORENCE ON THE IMPROVISORS PODCAST

Janice trained in dance and movement in Australia and the USA. After acquiring a physical disability, Janice performed with State of Flux for 10 years. She has developed a unique vision for directing inclusive dance theatre with Weave for the past 26 years together with several residencies with US and UK teachers and inclusive dance companies. Weave was an early disability led performance company in Australia. As Artistic Director of Weave, Janice has directed original, devised shows and 10 residencies for respected artists to collaborate with the company.

Janice was one of 12 leaders from across Australia to take part in the Australia Council Sync Disability Arts Leadership Residency (2014). She is the inaugural winner of the Australia Council National Disability Arts Award (2019). Janice’s approach is drawn from her broad experience of contemporary improvisation-based dance practices, informed by other theatre forms. She contributes to on-going international enquiry and innovation in inclusive dance theatre performance.
