Flesh Mirror
2025
Weave’s most recent show titled Flesh Mirror was staged at Arts House in October 2025. Through the generosity of Arts House we were able to hold a three-year development of this show in collaboration with our Lead Artist, Dancer/Choreographer Rebecca Jensen., Sound Artist Marco Cher-Gibard and Video artist, Zoe Scoglio.
The show had a huge, enthusiastic response. It won a Green Room award for Outstanding Ensemble in Contemporary Performance.
The Solos
2024
The Solos won a Fringe award and has been nominated for two Green Room awards.
Weave usually works as a close ensemble, but this time each of the six performers created a solo with a Director of their choice. Stories are on personal themes in either real or imagined worlds-fierce connection to place, poignant memory, universal anytime/everyman, absurdist encounters, dance from an imagined landscape.
WANNA BE A RABBIT
2018 to 2022
Choreographed by Yumi Umiumare in collaboration with Weave Movement Theatre, the work moves between the surreal, absurd and mundane; humorously reversing perceptions of difference, exploring themes of status, power imposed and decomposed, where categories develop cracks and shatter. Based on a creative development in 2018 and 2019 with showings as short pieces in the ButohOUT!
RED THREAD
2020
This film was an artistic response to the long Covid19 lockdown in Melbourne. Artists were confined to their houses and zoom became the new tool to connect, collaborate and create. This film incorporates accessible self portraiture filming with iPhones, zoom recordings and graphics and editing by film-maker David Hansen. The video has accessible audio descriptions. This film was made possible by Creative Victoria.
